tornado season

Last week we had our first severe weather of the season. We had it easy with mere olive-sized hail (surrounding counties had golf balls.) The kids thought it was pretty exciting. We ate dinner and sang songs sitting on pillows in the closet. I cried and prayed, they laughed and squealed. Whitney had such a super fun time, in fact, that we had to drag her out crying when the tornado warning expired. And Rob cried when NBC broadcast weather reports instead of The Office. It was a rough night for all of us.

Lubbock doesn't have sirens, which surprised me for all the tornado warnings we get. So we bought a weather radio so I don't have to lose anymore sleep laying awake on stormy nights listening for the rumble and whistle, debating whether or not to go turn on the TV or stash my kids in the closet.
