Whitney is not quite 2 and a half, so anything I ask her to do she insists on doing all by herself. That makes for a LOT of waiting and encouragement on my part as she, for instance, puts one foot into the car and then withdraws it to steady herself and then puts the other foot into the car but can't get enough leverage to lift herself because the crotch of her pants is hanging down to her knees, and, just as she has finally lifted herself successfully into her car seat, she has to climb back down and start over again because my attempt to free her stuck foot means she has no longer done it ALL by herself.
Recently, to contribute to the ridiculous nature of this process, if I make the mistake of telling her that we're in a hurry and we need to be quick, she stops whatever she's doing and begins running in place as enthusiastically as she can, breathlessly telling herself "faster! faster!"
I gotta hand it to her for trying so earnestly to be accommodating.
